In all my years of coaching, I've discovered one thing. Those that are most successful are the ones who master maintenance. If you struggle with maintenance, this episode is for you.
I cover what exactly "maintenance" is, why you need to spend the majority of your time here and how you actually be successful in maintenance.
I also talk about mistakes people make in maintenance so you know what to look out for.
I'd love to hear what additional questions you have on the topic.

Katy Whalen is the founder of Joi Women's Wellness and like many of us in our 40's she started feeling less than her best. Her journey to feel better and looking better inspired her to start Joi and help as many women as possible feel better than they ever imagined possible.
In this episode I ask Katy why she started Joi, how Joi helps women thrive in perimenopause and what most women come to her struggling with.
We also discuss the safety of HRT, the difference between bioidentical and synthetic hormones as well as when you should start HRT and how long you should keep up with it.
This episode is extremely informative and I want to help you have all the resources you need in order to help you feel and look your best in every stage of life. There is no one size fits all approach to perimenopause and I hope you find what works best for you!

The answers might surprised you. This was inspired by a question I received on Instagram from a woman who wanted to know if she should choose sleep or workout at 5am even though she is exhausted.
Without hesitation, I told her, sleep. I followed with the other two things she needs to prioritize in perimenopause.
I hope you find this episode helpful!

Paul Campbell graduated with his Master’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point in 2012. Paul has co-authored studies outlining the effectiveness of chronic disease prevention through lifestyle modification and believes that evidence-based interventions are the key to sustainable behavior change. Paul has been a competitive, drug free bodybuilder for the past 15 years, earning his professional status in 2018. Paul is also an avid hunter, mountain biker, alpine skier and backpacker who understands the importance of resistance training and proper nutrition. Using evidence-based methods, he has worked with competitive bodybuilders, a wide range of strength and endurance athletes, as well as people looking to maintain fat loss and improve their quality of life.
.
In this episode of Far From Perfect I wanted Paul to give us insight into what it really takes to step on stage as a body building competitor. Whether that's as a female doing bikini or figure to a man doing classic physique and men's physique. We as lay people see these bodies on social media all the time and many think those bodies are #goals. Paul explains what it actually takes and if the sport is a good fit for you. There are definitely some trade-offs.
.
In addition to our bodybuilding chat, we talk a lot about purpose and values and living in alignment with who you truly want to be. Paul also had a few questions for me regarding the biggest obstacles in working with women and what it's like having such a large influence in my household.

Coach David Mathis is making a repeat appearance on Far From Perfect because I wanted to ask him about some people in our industry saying that reverse diets aren't necessary.
.
We discuss what a reverse diet, or "health restoration phase" as David likes to call it, is and some unexpected benefits. And because David is such a great coach we dive into what nutrition coaching actually as and why it's more than just macro adjustments and getting clients to weight a certain number.
.
My favorite takeaway is the message that if we don't get the inside right, the outside will never fall into place.

Today on Far From Perfect I'm chatting with Alejandra, a friend and she is the director of programming for Elemental Coaching. We are talking about Body Dysmorphia and prioritizing yourself as a mother. First off you guys, this is just a conversation between two friends. Alejandra tells us about her background and how she got to where she is today in her life and work, which also happens to be fitness and nutrition coaching. She is mother to two young girls and she talks about navigating life with them and also finding the time to take care of herself and do the things that she needs to be and feel good. We chat a little bit about the book 'Conversations with God' which isn't a religious book per say and something I'm reading right now. Alejandra and her husband James used it in writing their vows and she says that the book presented in a way that allowed her to be more spiritual. We talk about a fear based approach as it relates to working out, eating, and how you may see yourself and rather then using that...pick an approach from a place of LOVE! We discuss how important it is to rest and what that means and how we understand how difficult it can be, but we also know how important it truly is! We get into ways to debunk body dysmorphia, such as removing exposure to things that might 'trigger' you, such as social media and giving yourself some self-care which can look different for everyone. Please join us in this conversation and give it a listen.

Today on Far From Perfect I'm talking with Tina Haupert, from Carrots n Cake. Tina is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, Certified Nutrition Coach and founder of Carrots 'N' Cake. Her program is a customized program, she uses the data from the testing so that she can look at the big picture on what's going on with your body. Tina talks to us about shifts that happen as we get older and enter perimenopause and menopause, but there is no reason to be miserable, Tina wants to help women feel their best. She knows this from experience and she shares her own journey with us today. We align on a lot of things and I really think you're going to enjoy this as much as I did.
You can find Tina on instagram @carrotsncake and her website carrotsncake.com. You can also check out her book The Everything Macro Diet Book CookbookTina Haupert is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P), Certified Nutrition Coach, and founder of Carrots ‘N’ Cake.
Tina has spent more than a decade in the online health industry and coached hundreds of women to improve their relationship with food by utilizing a macro-based approach while simultaneously achieving their body composition goals.
Life is all about having your carrots and cake, too! Through her own personal struggles with ulcerative colitis, post-birth control syndrome (aka wacky imbalanced hormones), and navigating doctors and the broken health system, Tina is committed to helping women take massive action toward becoming their happiest and healthiest selves yet.
Instead of ‘bandaids’ and doctors who don’t listen, she uses functional testing to address underlying metabolic chaos and root causes with nutrition and lifestyle recommendations via the DRESS for Success protocol.
Tina lives on the South Shore of Massachusetts with her husband, son, and senior pug. She loves spending time with her boys on family walks, hiking, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
