The ancient practice of Lectio Divina (3rd and 4th centuries CE) originated in the monastic tradition as an expression of reading sacred texts and practicing prayer/silence. It consists of four parts: lectio (read the text), meditatio (reflect on the text), oratio (respond to the text), and contemplatio (rest). This episode prepares you, the listener, for a guided lectio divina with a guided breathing meditation.
