How will the new California law change the hemp industry?
On October 6, 2021, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 45 into law, which allows for the inclusion of hemp and cannabinoids (e.g., CBD), extracts, or derivatives of hemp in food and beverages, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and processed pet food provided that they, among other things, contain less than 0.3%. The general counsel of the California Hemp Council, Patrick Goggin and founder of Sage Counsel joins Joy Beckerman to share stories from his multi-year battle to get the law passed and how it will impact the hemp industry.
