DESCRIPTION

Tem interviews Annabel from the Balance Strategy about the importance of reducing stress and the impact stress has on our body. Annabel went on a 10 year journey to gain knowledge and experience in nutrition, the body and mind as a result of having multiple seizures which her doctors said were due to her suffering from stress and burnout. She shares how she improved her well-being, stopped her seizures and is now helping teachers to improve their work-life balance.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Asking for help from not only our colleagues, but also our students, can have a big effect on how we are feeling and how quickly we can improve our emotional well-being.
  • It's a ripple effect. Us showing our students how to use strategies to help us self-regulate, they will also pick up and start using themselves.
  • It's about changing education from the inside out. The education system is too big. We need to change one teacher at a time.

BEST MOMENTS:

"So many teachers were coming out with burnout"

"I just want to help one teacher at a time. I want to know that that teacher is supported"

"I remember seeing him coming home tired and frustrated...the biggest thing I found was seeing him work a lot...children watch and then they learn"
