Hebrews 12 encourages believers to persevere in faith and to fix their eyes on Jesus, who is the author and perfecter of their faith. The chapter begins with a call to throw aside all sin and run the race of faith with endurance, remembering that God disciplines those he loves. It encourages readers to endure hardship with the right perspective, realizing that it builds endurance and produces the fruit of righteousness. The passage then goes on to contrast the experience of the Israelites at Mount Sinai with the experience of believers in Christ, highlighting the superiority of Christ’s covenant. The chapter ends with exhortations to pursue peace with all people and holiness, and to keep their eyes fixed on the eternal city of God.
