80-year-old songwriter Ron Chant reacts to a song he wrote, ‘Worn Out Cowboy Blues,’ being professionally sung and produced and played on the radio.
This Hearing is Fun podcast episode was recorded two days after the worldwide radio debut of the song performed and championed by Outlaw Country Artist Dennis Lowery.
The radio-ready song was produced by Ronn Chick (not to be confused with Ron Chant.)
The radio-ready song debuted worldwide on Outlaw Country Radio (KIEV-LP 102.7 fm Camas) on https://www.outlaw.fm during DJ Hondo’s STONEJAX O’CLOCK radio show on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023.
STONEJAX O'CLOCK is broadcast live from the Outlaw Studio upstairs at Washougal Times Restaurant and Lounge in Washougal, Washington.
Ron was introduced to the song on the same day it debuted.
An oversight by DJ Hondo was that Ron did not have a way to play the song at home after he heard it for the first time in the Outlaw Studio on Wednesday afternoon. Ron did hear and experience and enjoy the radio debut of 'Worn Out Cowboy Blues' later that same evening. Nevertheless, Ron prefers to listen to music on cassette tape. And, no cassette tape recording of the song was created by the day of the song release for Ron to take home.
Two days after the song release, Ron and DJ Hondo met back up in person so Ron could listen to the song more.
Ron was adamant about going back through the song line by line which is the foundation of this episode, Chapter 2, the next step of Ron Chant’s journey.
