My guest is my friend, my well wisher and my college mate,  Hemalatha Bhaskaran who has  recently honored with 2020 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Hema has been teaching at James M. Bennett High School (one of the Wicomico county public schools) since 2004. In her classroom, she focuses on developing 21st-century skills through real-world scientific exploration and problem solving. This is not the first time that Hema has been recognized as an outstanding teacher. Creativity is the ability to generate and communicate ideas and appreciate the nature of beauty. It fosters imagination, innovation, and a sense of aesthetics. Many children don’t recognize their own creativity. They limit the idea of creativity to art or poetry. But creativity is a process in which everyone participates and benefits. Some of us express creativity in the way we dress, the recipes we write, the doodles we create, or how we make people laugh. I have five young creative minds, who are ready explore their creativity. Aparna Valluri is the Founder and Program director of Shining Speaking Stars, a public speaking and personality development program that was established in January 2016. She is a very passionate proponent of public speaking, especially for school going kids, and she absolutely loves empowering them. She is also an avid contestant in international speech contests conducted by Toastmasters.  She appeared on the district stage five times, placing second in 2014 and third in 2018, beating competition from 1,000+ contestants and. Chatting with children is fun at the same time, it is a view that we get through their eyes. Many of us would have forgotten to look from a child's perspective. Talking to them unravels complexity in our lives and find some simple solutions to the complex problems. I talked to two elementary kids, Kuganesh from India and Negha from Frisco, Texas about their understanding of this pandemic, their future, and interests. Though they come from different countries and backgrounds, surprisingly their responses were similar.
