After some time traveling on the water Laman and Lemuel and the Sons of Ishmeal begin to forget the Lord and do things they shouldn't do. Nephi tells them to stop. They all know the Liahona will not work if they are not doing what they are supposed to. Laman and Lemuel tie Nephi up for 4 days. Not until they are afraid they will loose their own lives, do they un-tie him. Nephi prays and the storm stops.
