Why would Jesus choose to turn water into wine when He made His public debut as a miracle-worker? There is a lot to unpack as we study this first and very significant miracle, but the most important thing to note about it for you, me, and all of mankind is this: His purpose in turning the water into wine was to cover the host family’s shame and embarrassment of running out of wine. And in choosing this as His first miracle—this loving demonstration of compassion—Jesus laid a foundation that would undergird His entire ministry.
