In this episode of the Get Paid to Write podcast, I talk about one of the biggest obstacles to building a ghostwriting business and how you can overcome it.

Whether your ghostwriting business is a side-hustle or a full-time thing, you need to go into building it with the utmost confidence in your abilities and chances of success. The problem is it’s hard for a lot of ghostwriters to have that mentality. They don’t think they have what it takes to run a business let alone sell their services to anybody well—it’s difficult for them to think of themselves as not just writers but as entrepreneurs.

Believe it or not, one of the biggest things most aspiring ghostwriters wrestle with is having faith in their ability to write. It makes sense. It gets difficult to have pride in your writing ability when your only writing experience is your own writing and your only feedback is the fact that your blog isn’t famous, you don’t have tons of likes on social media, or that you aren’t a bestselling author.

All that self-doubt makes a lot of aspiring ghostwriters get overwhelmed quickly when they actually do get into ghostwriting. When they get overwhelmed, with any confidence in themselves to move forward, they do what’s easiest: nothing. That’s a problem because your ghostwriting business won’t grow if you don’t do anything. If that sounds like you, and you want your ghostwriting business to grow, you need to overcome any self-doubts you have.

In this episode, I discuss:

Your business isn’t going to go anywhere if you’re riddled with self-doubt. You’ll end up too afraid to make the leaps you need to make. You’ll wake up two decades later living the same reality, making the same commute, punching the same time clock, and you’ll look back in regret about how you let something as simple as self-doubt hold you back from living your dreams.

When it comes to building a ghostwriting business, some people have self-doubt about their ability to run a business, others have self-doubt about their skills with selling their services to clients, and some people even have self-doubt about their writing talent. What can you do to overcome those doubts?

Questions you can ask yourself to identify your biggest insecurities and what you can do to overcome them.
