Great podcast!
Great execution, coupled with a wide variety of guests and topics, make this a wonderful podcast. Not every topic hits home for me, but that’s to be expected. Thank you all for a great contribution!

Going strong and still full of surprises
The most recent episode reminded me why I get excited to hear the interviews on GGTTG. I could probably have found out a lot of it after some searching and reading a lot, but I didn't know there was so much reason to go do those rabbit holes.

Snobs
Arrogant people who are have “high borne” taste. I gave this show a long, long leash. Can’t do it anymore. EVERYTHING they review is a failure. It’s not worth your time or anymore of mine.

A thoughtful and rigorous contribution to benevolent fandom
For years I’ve turned to Geek’s Guide for open-ended discussions on my favorite content. Dave’s warm yet analytical tone is well-suited to the variety of formats this show offers. The lovable cast of returning panelists punctuate the interview roster with just the kind of quirky party that I enjoy with my own friends. I recently became a supporter after realizing that Patreon’s per-episode floating contribution offers a simple mechanism for encouraging more Geek’s Guide.

Deep Discussions & Insightful Interviews
David Barr Kirtley and his guests take us on a deep dive into topics related to Science Fiction and Fantasy (SF&F). The format varies between interviews where David talks to a creator such as an author or other luminary of the field, and discussion groups where David and a panel of people discuss a topic or subject area. The topics vary from books, to movies, and TV series. If it has to do with SF&F, it’s discussed here. David is certainly one of the best prepared podcasters in the business, always ready with an fairly complete understating of the topic or of the work of the interviewee. Geek’s Guide is a treasure for the field of SF&F and has a extensive back-catalog well worth exploring!

You mentioned iRobot as the predecessor book for this series but you missed several other books that lead up to this. iRobot had nothing to do with this except for the Three Laws.

Nerding Out Again!
I found Geeks Guide about 6 months ago. I’ve been a secret in the closet nerd my entire life but have really let it fly over the last few years! And The Geeks Guide is now home! David, the panelists, the book and movie recommendations are amazingly in line with everything I like. Keep ‘em coming. Ive listened to about 60% of the episodes so far and never want to reach 100% I’m also a small Patreon subscriber now to the show. Love you all and keep crushing it geek-style!

Love this show
I’ve listened on and off for a couple of years, but recently became a patron after listening regularly and now going back through the extensive library. Love the movie and series reviews as well as the author interviews and book reviews. I’ve bought several books ( most recently “Intergalactic Repairmen” and the “Best American Sci-fi” books). Both are great. I also love how David always remembers to give a synopsis of the subjects being discussed. Excellent. Look forward to each episode. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Thank you David Barr Kirtley and all of the guests and celebrities who are on Geek’s Guide…. Every time I listen to the podcast my curiosity gets sparked in a new way and I feel like I am at home with fellow geeks. Great job, love the podcast.

Painful Waste of Time
Just listened to the Snow Crash episode and was treated to an hour of the hosts competing on who is the most “socially conscious”.

Great stuff
GGttG has kept me engaged, entertained and—most importantly—awake on many a long road trip. This show is a must-listen for anyone who honestly considers themself a science fiction fan.

Life-changing podcast!
Wow! This podcast has changed my life! I’ve been a sci-fi reader most of my life, and I’m a regular listener to Escape Pod, Starship Sofa and other story ‘casts. I’ve been stuck in a rut though trying to connect with contemporary writers and even some classics I’ve missed. The Geek’s Guide has filled that need perfectly. It is now my most-anticipated weekly podcast. Recently… I’ve already ordered a copy of Daryl Gregory’s short story collection “Unpossible…”. I’ve decided I do want to see “Green Knight”. I learned more that I ever wanted to know about video game development. I read “Behold the Man” by Paul Di Filippo and found it fascinating. I discovered Robert Sheckley. I bought and devoured the “Best American Sci-Fi Fantasy” collection. David is one of the best interviewers I listen to on a regular basis. His ability to keep a group engaged and ensure everyone has their say without taking over the discussion is amazing. Keep up the good work!

Love it
Great show for sci-fi lovers of all variety.

One of my favorites!!!
GGttG is one of my favorite podcasts and my very favorite that discusses fiction. But really its so much more than that. David Barr Kirtley is immensely well-read, but the podcast isn't just about obscure SciFi literature (but there's plenty of that), it features lots of group discussions of books, movies, TV series and more. And the guests invited to lend expertise are themselves oozing with bona fides. Whether you are a true devote, or a dabbler, you will find a lot to love about this podcast.

Discovered so much new (old) Sci Fi
I was a huge sci fi reader in earlier years but thanks to this podcast I’ve now discovered numerous authors I somehow bypassed. Enjoying “Store of the Worlds” now by Sheckley. Fantastic (Podcast and Sheckley)! Amber next in queue. Beyond that, waiting for you for more referrals David. No pressure… well, some :-)

Excellent
Great deep dives into every aspect of the genre. Love the show. I would love to hear different panelists, the visits by the current slate are a little stagnant.

Great for Sci-Fi discovery
This is my go-to podcast source for new and classic sci-fi. I’ve shared many episodes with my likeminded friends. Excellent, insightful panels and host! Keep up the great work!

I thoroughly enjoy each episode even if I am only somewhat familiar with the topic.

Geeks Guide to the Galaxy - incredible!
David Barr Kirtley leads great panels and interviews based on his own expertise as an accomplished author. He asks great questions, moderates panels well, and he has a very deep back catalog of material for every interest in SciFi! The production qualities of every show are excellent as well. Clearly, David and his team take a lot of time on each show. I am grateful for all the contributions his numerous guests and panelists have contributed. I have learned a lot, not only about SciFi, but computing history, writing, publishing, and other areas. Dive in! So much great content!

Este potcast es súper
Este show es sumamente bueno aunque sea en inglés y francamente lo escucho semana tras semana. Pruébalo y verás que es para los súper fanáticos de ciencia ficción. Continúa con un buen trabajo David!

Two of the best interviews yet
The last two Geek's Guide episodes were some of host David Barr Kirtley's best interviews yet, featuring Prof. Janna Levin's enthusiasm for black holes and the many ideas for short stories they spawn; and long-time panel participant (and fan favorite) Erin Lindsey on her newest novel. I've been waiting for that last interview, and it did not disappoint. As usual, each episode resulted in more titles for my TBR list. But listening to this podcast is its own reward. Invariably, I learn something new, or hear a new angle on a familiar topic. The interviewees usually have just published a book, so the podcast is a great way to keep current. The format switches between interviews and panel discussions. For his interviews, it is apparent that Kirtley researches his subjects' creative output. He asks such insightful questions of them that they sometimes have to take a step back to savor the moment (and collect their thoughts!). He's an author of dozens of short stories himself, so Kirtley is well-suited to interview other authors. The best parts are where he leverages his encyclopedic knowledge of genre fiction---humbly, never showing off. His follow-up questions arise naturally, not scripted. And he sure knows how to land a well-timed self-deprecating joke. As for Geek's Guide panel discussions, Kirtley has gathered an impressive cast of mostly recurring guests who enjoy opining on various themes in fiction or movies, or TV series, etc. He leads each discussion on a specific topic, and they are a lot of fun, but especially whenever Tom Gerencer, Matt Kressel and Andrea Kail appear together, which often results in comedy gold. In the Levin interview, Kirtley admits his own creative output has suffered due to podcasting taking over his life. But his sacrifice is our benefit, and only an author with his experience could bring such love for the craft, attention to detail, and respect for his subjects, to each interview and panel. If you're any bit of geek, you need this podcast in your week.

A must-listen for fans of Sci-Fi and Fantasy
David Barr Kirtley is an incredibly well-prepared and interested interview host. It's clear that he spends a great deal of time researching and reading the work of the guests that he interviews on the podcast, and it makes the show a rewarding listen. Look through the show archives, too, for a fantastic survey of who's who in genre fiction. The panel discussions are also thoughtful and entertaining. I highly recommend this podcast. It's always a highlight of my week!

Always Great Interviews
I never miss an episode and am a proud Patreon supporter. Kirtley is a great interviewer, and even when it's a guest I don't have any particular interest in the interview is always interesting. The shows with guest panelists are frequently my favorites, expecially if Erin Lindsey or Grady Hendrix are among the panelists.

Ep. 435 Time Loops
In Edge of Tomorrow movie review you neglected to mention that this is also the title of an Asimov novel about time travel, and one of my favorite books by him. I can’t imagine the movie being nearly as good and it certainly pays no respect to copy write, and Tom Cruise is the star which is another big mark against it.

Best Sci-Fi Pod Of All Time
Geeks Guide to the Galaxy is far and away the best podcast for lovers of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and intellectually stimulating discussions. I miss John Joseph Adams but David Barr Kirtley is a great host, interviewer, and moderator. I especially enjoy it when Kirtley digs into the guests reading backgrounds. I look forward to checking out the weeks topic every Friday. Sometimes I’m a little disappointed in the topic choice but invariably Kirtley delivers a thought provoking and entertaining show. During the pandemic I revisited the first 100 shows. They aged very well and were a lot of fun. Thank you and keep up the great work.👍🏼👍🏼

Great Conversations About Science Fiction and Fantasy
Discovered David Barr Kirtley’s podcast several years ago, and have been listening in ever since. David has interesting and purposeful conversations with the leading lights of science fictions and fantasy. I consistently learn a lot from the show, whether it’s a round table discussion of schlocky 80s dungeons and dragons movies or a conversation with a grand master of science fiction. I particularly enjoy the balance between screen, print, and gaming content, and welcome the exposure to great new material that has enriched my life.

Great guests.
Chanced upon this podcast. Love the guests. Big name authors I have never heard interviewed. Hosts are very educated not smooth in delivery. Then I realized they are Geeks! Once you get used to their style, very much appreicated their knowledge and research.

Watch your wish list and you mind expand
...as you absorb, as quickly as humanly (and socially) possible, years of interesting and thoughtful discussions on the current state of sci-fi and fantasy as well as the depths of its famous and “lost” histories. Discovery, debate and passionate fandom are common hallmarks of this, an indispensable part of today’s culture. If you love genre, you’ll love this podcast.

Love DBK and his choice of guests
Timely, topical, tremendously thoughtful. It’s my go-to to get out of my head and appreciate other points of view. I listen to pick and choose opinions to arm myself before intense social encounters like cons because I know that I can count on reasoned arguments and detailed breakdown of facts and factoids. It’s having a friend you can always count on to be enthusiastic about what you love and to legitimize discussing what others might consider minutia, but we know is deep and meaningful—the essence of truth and beauty.

This is my favorite Podcast.
I’ve been listening to Geek’s Guide for years, and each new episode brightens my week. The panels are my favorite - and I often find myself laughing or nodding in agreement with the different opinions and perspectives. Do I pause the show to offer my own thoughts and perspectives to an empty room? No. That’s what schizophrenic people do. I do it in my car while driving like a normal person. Seriously though, if you like fantasy, sci fi, or generally interesting discussion and perspectives on cool ideas, give this a listen.

Inspired
This podcast has inspired me to finish a lot of my science fiction writing, and has also introduced me to amazing authors via a fantastic interviewer. Also has inspired me to apply to Clareon West this year, thank you!

Unbearably Whiny
If you're interested in 1.5 hours of inane, uneducated complaining every episode, this is the podcast for you. I've tried to listebt to various episodes over the years when they've discussed subjects interesting to me, and literally every time it's been a truly awful experience. Don't waste your time.

Incredibly woke geeks
I used to enjoy the show lots of insight and great interviews with authors and creators. Decided to give it a break as I found it a little too woke for me. Well 18 months later rather than a little change one way or the other it has gone off the rails. Rather than discussions and explorations of the content of the shows and books it has broken down into Maoist self-criticism circles with the commentators expressing various levels of woke outrage. Problematic, misogynistic, LGBQ...... being some favorite and often used terms. 2 thumbs down.

The best interview podcast out there.
I listen to a lot of interviews where the interviewer hasn't read the author's work and isn't familiar with who they are. David spends a lot of time learning about each new guest, often catching them off guard with insightful questions. A good example of this is in the Kazuo Ishiguro episode. By the end of it, the guest is engaged and asking questions back at David until his handler has to pull him away for the next interview. In terms of interview-based podcsasting, you won't find a better option than The Geek's Guide to the Galaxy.

Science Fiction Authors
Wow! So amazing to get the opportunity to hear the most prominent science fiction authors chat with the most wonderful host in the history of Geek culture. Nothing better, if you’re into this type of stuff. We are lucky to have these folks in our lives.

The go-to podcast about science fiction
In this age of too-much content, the cream shall rise to the top. Geek's Guide to the Galaxy is the best podcast covering the fields of science fiction, fantasy and horror. Mr. Kirtley fields a great variety of guests and creators to discuss every aspect of speculative fiction (from books to games to movies to television and more). I can find no better podcast that covers this subject matter in such depth. If I have any complaint, it is that they have much more time to watch movies and TV than I and I must stockpile their discussions on those subjects until I can catch up. But the discussion is always worth the wait. I have been listening from the beginning and I will continue to do so until there are no more episodes to follow.

If you like sci-fi, you should listen to this podcast
This podcast introduces me to things I hadn’t heard of before that I go on to love, while also embiggening my understanding of books/movies/shows/ideas which I’d thought I’d had down pat. A perfectly cromulent show.
Why Not Make The Crib Great
Drills down on unusual topics
I don't have enough time to be as geeky as I would like and have been turned on to authors and content that I later really enjoy. The panel shows are well managed and have substantive guests; and for the interview shows he lets the guest talk long form. I don't always listen to the whole show and I notice the "woke" politics, but I like the show and look forward to new episodes.

All I want to listen to all day
In 2015 i stumbled across an old episode posted on YouTube ( the chuck palaniuk episode ) and have been listening ever since. The podcast has seriously been life changing, opening my eyes to the world of science fiction and fantasy . If I ever make enough money I will for sure become a Patreon because I cannot imagine my Friday mornings without this postcast.
