Wish I could rate it 5...
I would love to praise this podcast. I really really would. It has everything I want from the medium. It delves deeply into game mechanics and systems, in a world where everyone is just doing an actual play, it’s great to hear people discussing the nuts and bolts of games. And it consistently highlights a diverse cast of guests that are not the usual suspects of game design. So great.
All that said, I’ve reached episode 5 and decided I just can’t listen any more. It all comes down to language. The main host’s use of vulgarity began reasonably enough, I like when podcasts recognize they do not have the same strictures as tv and radio and can be freer with things like that, but then it ramped up steadily so that by the 3rd or 4th episode it’s almost embarrassing to listen to. I am not a prude by any measure, but dropping expletives like other people insert “um” and “like” into conversation feels juvenile.
I hate it because the podcast is great otherwise. I don’t want to bash the host, aside from the one issue he drops great insight and brings a wealth of views, info and experiences to the table. The conversations that happen there are not conversations I hear anywhere else. In a space where we desperately need to hear more diverse voices and topics it’s the perfect thing, I just wish it didn’t sound like my kid brother just learning to curse 😞

Good even for novices
I've never played any tabletop games but this is still a good podcast that explains concerns and mechanics from the people who make the games.

Critical Success
This channel is fantastic. I thought I had a grasp on the complexity of the table top RPG industry, this podcast proved me wrong. Please make more episodes.

A refreshing and deep TTRPG show
RPGDF is something new and refreshing in that it takes a deep dive into game design and the tabletop community and you get to hear voices not showcased on the standard fair. I drop whatever I'm listening to when it releases!
