This noir thriller was an allegory for the politically charged era of the Red Scare in Hollywood. Brandon and Holley discuss Richard Brooks&#8217; and Daniel Fuchs&#8217; screenplay that was ahead of its time in its indictment of the KKK. The film also features an unlikely cast that includes Ginger Rogers, Doris Day and Ronald Reagan.
