A Sea in California? A toxic one at that! Formed via an engineering accident that resulted in a flooded train & 110 miles of water collected in the Salton Basin. Today it is a Toxic wasteland that spur dust storms that waft these chemicals into the air.
The Salton sea was once a thriving Summer hotspot labeled the Next Palm Springs. But as salt levels rose, the water levels shrank & the chemicals from the agricultural run off that kept the sea alive began to make everyone near it sick. Explore the Abondoned communities & Yatch clubs that once hosted Frank Sinatra & The Beach Boys! Or hear about my trip to Slab City that was cut short by a flash flood & dust storm combo! Plus how lithium mining here can power almost half the world?!? Check it out today on Fringe History!! Fringe History is Created, Produced & hosted by Basti B.
