Mephibosheth was connected to a fallen kingdom, defined by others according to his disability, and living far from the palace. Yet King David sought him out—not to punish him, but to show him covenant kindness. His invitation was not based on Mephibosheth’s merit, strength, or usefulness, but on a promise made long before he arrived.

In the same way, God’s grace comes looking for us. Our failures, wounds, and limitations do not cancel His call. The table is not prepared because we are worthy, but because the King is kind. His kindness calls us, carries us, and covers us.
