These were presented to me over the last 11 years, and they have sincerely shaped the world of possibility and performance I have come to live in. The things I used to cling to for comfort and self-indulging righteousness. The very things I knew in absolute certainty to keep me safe and comfortable, were in all actuality the prisons of limitation and ignorance I had mistaken for wisdom. I was afraid. I’ve always been afraid. I had built a life of common sense and security, that was really a false image of courage designed to keep my stagnant and the same.
I became desperate for a miracle of change. I became sick and tired of stagnation. This bore a willingness that ultimately attracted the people in my life that gave me the above words of wisdom. They encouraged me to consider that everything I thought I knew in my heart to be absolute, was actually a flimsy reed. That if I was courageous enough to get uncomfortable, and more uncomfortable, and MORE UNCOMFORTABLE. To push past doubt and fear and insecurity and DO MORE ANYWAY in these avenues of old locked doors… I would experience a liberation, freedom, and confidence that would be the biggest reward I would experience in life… more than money, more that esteem of my peers, true liberation from the social tides and communal standards that kept me imprisoned to YOU, and THEM. The fear of the unknown is at it’s core fear of rejection or failure.
To realize both are necessary in life. That both are also temporary. That both are what make the best better… This is the gift I have received by realizing that there is always more to be had right on the other side of that invisible wall of fear and discomfort.
