Press freedom around the world has been on the decline over the past decade in spite of an annual global index published by the global media watchdog, Reporters Without Borders. The global ranking shows that since 2020 for instance, Norway has consistently topped the index. What accounts for the consistent decline in press freedom around the world? Director of the Hunter College's journalism program, Sissel McCarthy shares her research with us.
