Story Transcript:
Et: Kalev seisis Forsythi pargi serval, hingates sügavalt sisse talvist õhku.
En: Kalev stood at the edge of Forsyth Park, taking a deep breath of the winter air.
En: The park was peaceful and quiet, with only the sound of a few distant birds.
En: Kalev's goal was clear: a successful presentation at the landscape architecture conference.
En: He knew it could change his career.
Et: Aga närvid.
En: But the nerves...
Et: Jah, need tegid temast muret.
En: Yes, they made him anxious.
En: Beside Kalev stood Maret, his good friend and colleague.
En: "You can do this," said Maret encouragingly, placing her hand on Kalev's shoulder.
En: "Just take a deep breath and don't forget why you're doing this."
Et: "Tõepoolest, Kalevil oli põhjus.
En: Indeed, Kalev had a reason.
Et: Tema armastus maastikuarhitektuuri vastu algas lapsepõlvest.
En: His love for landscape architecture began in childhood.
En: The tall trees of his home garden and his mother's flower bed had always been a source of inspiration for him.
Et: Kell sai üksteist ja konverents algas.
En: At eleven o'clock, the conference began.
En: Expectations were high, and the curiosity of the people seemed almost palpable.
En: When Kalev reached his presentation, he walked nervously to the podium.
Et: Esimesed sõnad tulid vaevaliselt.
En: The first words came with difficulty.
Et: Ta tundis, kuidas närvilisus temasse tungis, niisama nagu talvine tuul läbi paksu mantli.
En: He felt the nervousness creeping into him, just like the winter wind through a thick coat.
Et: Aga siis, äkki, peatus ta hetkeks.
En: But then, suddenly, he paused for a moment.
Et: Publik vaatas teda ootusärevalt.
En: The audience looked at him expectantly.
En: Kalev remembered Maret's words and decided to share his personal story.
Et: "Kas teate," alustas ta, "minu armastus maastikuarhitektuuri vastu sai alguse ühest väikesest aiast Eestis.
En: "You know," he began, "my love for landscape architecture started in a small garden in Estonia."
En: He spoke about how, as a child, he spent days in his grandmother's garden, learning the stories of plants and the earth.
En: How in the autumn, the leaves cooled, and in the spring, new buds sprouted.
