En: Lars lay silently in the hospital bed, looking out the window.

En: The yellow and red leaves drifted slowly down from the trees outside.

En: It was autumn, and the forest had donned a dazzling outfit that Lars would otherwise have loved to wander in.

En: But now he was here, stuck in a hospital room.

Sv: Hans ben gjorde ont efter vandringsolyckan.
En: His leg hurt after the hiking accident.

En: A misstep, and he had fallen badly.

En: The first thought in his head was that he would need help.

Sv: Hjälp var inget för honom.
En: Help was not for him.

En: Lars loved the feeling of freedom and independence.

Sv: Men just nu hade hans kropp andra planer.
En: But at the moment, his body had other plans.

En: Astrid, his sister, sat by his side reading a book.

En: Occasionally, she looked up to check on him.

Sv: Hon var orolig.
En: She was worried.

En: She wanted Lars to listen to the doctors.

Sv: Erik, sjuksköterskan, kom in med ett vänligt leende.
En: Erik, the nurse, came in with a friendly smile.

Sv: "Hur känns det idag, Lars?"
En: "How are you feeling today, Lars?"

Sv: frågade han.
En: he asked.

Sv: Lars bet ihop.
En: Lars gritted his teeth.

Sv: "Bättre," ljög han.
En: "Better," he lied.

Sv: "Jag vill hem."
En: "I want to go home."

En: "We have to make sure you're ready first," he said calmly.

Sv: "Ditt ben behöver mer tid."
En: "Your leg needs more time."

En: Lars sighed and tried to move without restriction.

En: But the pain was more intense than he dared to admit aloud.

En: He thought that if he could just get out of bed, everything would be better.

En: He longed for the forest's scent and the fresh air.

Sv: Nästa morgon hade beslutsamheten tagit över.
En: The next morning, determination had taken over.

En: Lars decided to try again.

En: He got up, but his legs were weaker than he thought.

En: He took a few staggering steps towards the hallway.

Sv: Hjärtat bultade av viljestyrka men benen svek honom.
En: His heart pounded with willpower,...
