A cold case is a crime, or suspected crime, that has not been fully resolved.  And is not presently being investigated.   New information could emerge from new witness testimony, re-examined case files, Discovered evidence, as well as new activities or actions of the suspect.  New technology developed after the crime was committed can be used on original evidence to analyze it for new clues.
