TRANSCRIPT : I'm Risma and today we will discuss about the best and worst in learning online.
Work from home (WFH) is a form of government appeal in order to stop the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. This WFH applies to almost all institutions including educational institutions. For educational institutions, WFH means that the process of teaching and learning activities which is usually carried out in classrooms is now temporarily stopped and replaced by a teaching and learning process using an online system.
Students and teachers will continue to carry out teaching and learning activities as usual, it's just that it is done in their respective homes. At first we might think this job is easy to do; by having enough facilities such as mobile phones and quotas and a supporting network, this activity is definitely easy and can be done. Ops! It seems that the guess is wrong.
After several weeks of teaching and learning activities using the online system, all problems and obstacles began to emerge. Among them, not all children are the same in terms of ownership of facilities such as cell phones; many of the students only have HP, call it an ordinary cellphone. In addition, even if there is a cellphone, the limited quota and the network that are not supportive are also obstacles. If you are in an area where there is no stable internet coverage, it will be difficult for you to access learning. In addition, the price of internet data usage is still considered quite expensive for some Indonesians. This causes learning with an online system to be considered quite difficult.
There are still many other obstacles that arise, such as when the online system is used.
The material presented is not fully understood by students; students are confused in receiving the material presented by the teacher. Even though the teaching and learning activities are carried out using video calls, or using google classrooms, they are still not as effective as imagined. The material taught is responded to based on different levels of understanding, depending on the students' abilities. Some students may be able to grasp material more quickly just by reading, but some may take longer to really understand. Some even need explanations from other people in order to understand the material being studied.
In addition, not all students were even present when the learning activity took place, as it was caused by the network that was not supportive and it could also be because students were bored with the ineffective learning system. This online learning system is also difficult to control children's attendance during teaching and learning activities so that those who can follow are children with good facilities. In the end learning was not channeled well. Lack of supervision in conducting online learning makes students sometimes lose focus. With the ease of access, some students tend to procrastinate their study time. Self-awareness is needed so that the online learning process becomes focused and achieves goals.
Even so, learning with an online system also has several advantages, including
1. Can be accessed easily
Simply using a smartphone or other technological device such as a laptop connected to the internet, you can access the material you want to study. You can also do learning activities anywhere and anytime.
2. The cost is more affordable
Of course, we all want to increase our knowledge without spending too much money. With the internet data package, you can access various learning materials without worrying about missing lessons if you are not present.
3. Study time is flexible
Usually most people who want to study again don't have enough time. One reason may be that your time is already spent working.
