Show notes
In part one of this double-pronged series, Travis breaks down his film analysis process. This week, hear him dive into key points on acting, directing, and lighting.
Acting
- Is the character believable?
- How does the character interact with other characters? Does it feel genuine?
- Can you tell the actor is being vulnerable and inviting the character into themselves?
Directing
- How does the director use the nuances of a shot/scene to convey tone?
- Can you see the director's creativity at work, rising above the script?
- How does the director use color and sound?
Lighting
- How do shadows function in the film?
- How does the lighting provide character insight?
- Does the lighting tell you anything about genre or tone?
