Diamonds but they aren’t in the rough
I’ve been listening to this podcast since it first came out. Seasons 1 & 3 changed the way I view myself and my place in the filmmaking universe, changed for the better. Thoughtful and well organized if listened to each episode at least 3 times.

One of the Gems on the Filmmaker Podcast Network
Rob’s show is one of a handful of select gems on the filmmaker podcast network. Such an invaluable resource for upcoming filmmakers trying to navigate the onslaught that is the current, democratized film market. Along with a few select others, I’ve been listening to his podcast for the last few years as I’ve produced and directed my first low budget feature. The amount of underground information I’ve learned from these gems is truly invaluable. His podcast and those like it are the answers to the sheer volume of misleading and unreputable information that the modern filmmaker has to sift through the find the core truths of how to producer a professional film on a low budget. Give it a listen and take notes.

Incredible insight
Rob does such a good job on so many levels. I’m a full time film-maker and his podcasts at immense value to me on the business side of things as well as overall creative approaches. Keep it man, and I would love to hear more about finding gigs and marketing concepts for freelancers.

A Valuable Resource for Filmakers
I really enjoy this podcast as an “aspiring” filmmaker. This podcast's content is always bringing me value and have I really enjoyed all of the guests. Impressive!
I don’t usually write reviews but I couldn’t resist. To any artist out there, I highly recommended studying and implementing the advice on this podcast into your daily life. I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for almost 20 years and live by most, if not all of the things being discussed here. Great job to the creator for taking the time to focus on the most important aspects of the artistic journey. It’s not the easiest life and it’s great to see such a rich and honest resource for people to learn from that may be going through the struggle. Keep up the great work!

Unique and Insightful
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this podcast because it's not like other filmmaking podcasts I've listened to in the fact that it has little to do with the technical and more with the philosophy and mindset one needs to hopefully be successful in the industry. If you're on the fence, just listen to it. You won't regret it. Highly recommend!

Clear concise with a warm cadence
Very clear clean economical advice with a warm natural cadence. These thoughtful podcasts soothe this terrified beginning filmmaker. Great interviews of other artists in the filmmaker tribe. Beautiful newsletters with amazing heart filled films that inspire and provoke my own thoughtful and artistic process.

Inspired and encouraged
Was looking for a good filmmaking podcast and I stumbed across this gem. Such a fantastic, encouraging and inspiring podcast. I really appreciate how each episode is well focused and filled with great insights, helpful information and ideas as opposed to other podcasts I listen to where it's an hour (or more) long episode filled with rambling and you end up wasting so much of your time listening to hosts ramble on before you get to the meaningful information. I absolutely love this podcast, thank you so much! My passion for filmmaking is solidified more and more every day.

Practical Podcast for Filmmakers
Thank you, Robert! Your take on maintaining a practical and realistic mindset about being a full-time filmmaker is perfect for those of us who desire to use our creative mind and skills to make a reasonable living and feed our souls at the same time. I have followed Robert’s writing for sometime, and his best work on the subject of film is in progress with The Filmmaker’s Process.

Great resource for indie filmmakers
I've been a subscriber for over 6 months and have learnt a lot of good things. First of all, Robert is clearly passionate about filmmaking and also truly interested in helping others. He doesn't spam too much and will respond to your emails promptly and answer questions. The articles are nicely curated and some of them have been brilliant. I didn't go to film school but have made a short film that's doing well in festivals, resources like this are how I keep learning and working on my craft. Overall, great resource and I recommend!

Emotionally Charged
It’s like sitting down listening a friend pour their heart out about filmmaking… well friends because he features so many other filmmakers. Rob really pulls off a great quality of relaxing and inspiring style that I’ve not heard in podcasts before.

Really unique filmmaking podcast
There are a lot of filmmaking podcasts these days, but this one might be my new favorite. As someone who really enjoys both educational podcasts and more storytelling-driven ones like This American Life and Radiolab, Filmmaker Freedom strikes a great balance between the two styles.
