As we launch into June, we celebrate Gay Pride around the world.
Whilst Pride can’t be celebrated in full force this year, due to Covid-19, we can still mark the occasion virtually, through conversation.
With this in mind, this week we chatted to our friends at Two Dads UK to find out more about their coming out stories, how they felt knowing that having children wouldn’t be an easy route. Mike talks about how he married a woman at 19 to ‘make the gay go away’.
He talks openly and honestly about being a child from ‘Section 28’ (The amendment was enacted on 24 May 1988, and stated that a local authority "shall not intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality" or "promote the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship") and the pain that came with that.
Hear what they have created to support others going through surrogacy and egg donation and how they’re even working to get a law reform!
