Missing the real EPOP
I keep listening as I hope to hear a return to the days before real estate, year in review, and now these little short whatevers. I miss the song. I love that song. Please come back to us!

Much Less enjoyable now for a former fan
This went from being an enjoyable travel show to a rather insufferable couple that I really can’t stand to listen to.
Putting aside all their shenanigans during Covid (not isolating from family and friends, traveling domestically and internationally with their small kids, getting sick and exposing people, etc) they’re also own a ton of Airbnbs, which we all know jack up property prices, displace locals, and degrade locations they’re in. I appreciate them trying to share their secret to success, but it’s not exactly helpful if it includes magically owning a house right out of college, having a parent co-sign loans with you, and using very morally questionable “investments” like Airbnb.
In short this has gone from being a fun relatable podcast to being just another homage to hustle culture and platitudes about financial independence from people who already had a big head start in life. It’s also kind of amusing to me that I, a regular loser with a 9-5, have been to more places than they have, but they position themselves as experts.

Went downhill.
Used to be a good show

Just Bad
This podcast used to be good now nothing but ads. Little to no travel advice. Very two faced in that they act woke about covid but travel anyway. Just travel like normal people and don’t apologize for it. Awful

They sounds so entitled. And their voices are grating.
So hard to listen to. Not people I could like at all.

Disappointed
I listened to this show for years and loved hearing them share travel tips for traveling as a couple and then with kids. I even liked the short term rental discussions. I forgave them and kept listening through the Covid faux pas of the Costa Rica trip which was spoken about at length as something that happened to them and not a crisis of their own making. However, I had to unsubscribe and stop following when Heather complained about a coffee shop that wouldn’t let her sit down inside and had her wear a mask even though “we are on the other side of Covid”. We are not! You don’t know that coffee shop owner or employees situation. Are they or someone in their family immunocompromised? Just because you are done dealing with Covid precautions doesn’t mean that every shop needs to be a Covid free for all. I’m unsubscribing, unfollowing on social and ending my many year following of EPOP. I’m so disappointed in your lack of compassion for people who are dealing with Covid safety.

Love the travel advice
Writing this while listening to the reading mean reviews episode. I’ve been listening since 2017 (and downloaded a bunch of intriguing episodes from the prior years too, which I binged). I actually prefer the episodes with both of you because you get along so well/bounce off of each other easily/are so POSITIVE and optimistic, even when talking about mishaps. I LOVE the top list episodes as well as the destination diaries the most and take notes in my phone of a lot of the recommendations (I’m a wildlife biologist so working location independent isn’t as relevant to me, though I listen to those episodes of interesting people with interesting lives too). I went to Greece and Croatia October 2019 and used some of your recommendations! Lastly, I do not have kids and don’t plan on it, and it’s quite easy to skip past baby/family travel parts of episodes. Thanks for entertaining me through grad school and many boring days when I don’t see any animals. Cheers!
I don’t know how to add a second review but just listened to the last 2022 episode and I’m glad the podcast is back! Definitely putting that espresso machine on our wedding registry too haha!

The best!
I’ve been listening to EPOP for a over a year now, and they’re my absolute favorite travel podcast.

Ouch
Couldn’t finish your Florence episode. I can understand difficulty pronouncing words and names in foreign languages. If one is going to record a podcast for public listening though, take a moment to learn somewhat how to pronounce The Duomo vs The “Dummo”, Santa Croce vs “Santa Croosh” and so many more… makes the listener wonder if you researched much of what you were talking about ( as well as painful to listen to)

Bummer it pivoted to real estate.
Long time listener when it was travel related, but sadly they now focus on Airbnb short term rental $$$ info. I’m out :-(

Life-Changing, Literally
I started listening to this podcast and a couple others about 5 years ago, and my life has literally gone 180° as a result. I’ve used Trav’s advice to book months-long trips with points and little money, utilizing open-jaws and multiple-week stopovers, etc., bought a van, sold a van, taken one-way flights to places I’ve never been, and all while just getting started around age 40. And never would have believed I could travel the world and be nomadic, or that I would publish a book to help others face their fears and do it too. And the transition to having Heather cohost full time made this podcast immeasurably better! These two work extremely well together and have great rapport, and their ability to contrast each other is great. Well done!

A must listen
Found this Podcast through another podcast I binge on. EPOP is quickly becoming my favorite travel podcast. Travis and Heather are very engaging and enjoyable to listen to. So much great advice and inspiration. My current career doesn’t allow as much travel as I’d like to do, so I’m vicariously traveling through these episodes. Trying to get caught up on all the episodes’

Covid and travel
I have listened to this podcast for years. But travel to Costa Rica during a pandemic was a bridge to far.
Travel is never an individual decision. Your travel impacted all of those around you and the community you were staying in.
Making comments that you wouldn’t have changed anything and you wouldn’t change anything is incredibly tone deaf.

Top 20 songs? Friendliest countries (or countries in which the tourism industry employees were nice to us)? Our best meals of 2020? These are stories to share with your close friends over dinner, not podcast material. Also, they got Covid on vacation (oops) and they have an Airbnb that made a magazine cover. Congrats.

Not what it used to be
I used to really love this podcast, but over the last year, I have been more and more annoyed by their frequent mention of visitors coming to their new house and traveling with others to another country...where they caught Covid. I’m an RN who has put off traveling even to see my family for over a year now because I’m taking care of COVID patients- this entire podcast is now just a slap in the face to me and other workers who continue to have to treat people that are not following guidelines.
I used to love the destination diaries and travel advice, but the podcast has shifted more to being about the “location independent lifestyle” and their business. It’s a turnoff to those who don’t have that type of lifestyle, and don’t necessarily want it, either.

I’ve been listening to Travis and Heather for years on Extra Pack of Peanuts. The wanderlust, the travel tips, the great stories, the NEW music...what’s not to love??

COVID Supporters
1. Non-essential travel during a pandemic
2. Contract COVID in foreign country
3. Travis complains about the extra insurance they had to buy, that they had to use, on their non-essential travel
4. Heather talks about the mental toll, of the self exposed contraction and isolation, during non-essential travel
5. They say no regrets and Travis encourages others to travel.
6. They admit that among them, the parents, and the friends they saw in Tamarindo, 3 out of 6 adults contracted COVID.
7. They will not do anything to change until their reckless choices kill someone. I hope that doesn't happen, but would be unsurprised if it does.

The hubris on display...
Have listened to all the episodes though "Why we travelled to Costa Rica"
Gotta say, they progressively lost me over the course of the last year. The list of visitors that came to their house in North Carolina (and all the "new" friends they referenced making), maintaining that they kept social distance for just a revolving door of visitors. Think about all the unneccesary points of contact with the travel time for all those people. And then "we only travelled to stay put" but now their parents are coming down to Costa Rica to visit? Another example of unnecessary travel.
They talk about how they've worked really hard to have this kind of lifestyle. They also are, more than most, fully capable of just staying home and being able to afford it. As proved by the purchase of a $500-800k beach house, on top of primary residence and multiple AirBnB properties. Y'all are the example of people who could be responsible and weather the pandemic, and just stay home. But you refused and have been making excuses. This is further troubling because you're actively giving permission to others to travel through your actions. I've listened to over 500 episodes, but I'm done, and I regret any part of promotion I gave that enabled you to flout responsible choices.

Enjoy the show
Enjoy the show - makes my dog walking hours go faster and sometimes longer. Banter between you is fun to listen to but how you manage to travel with two young children is beyond me!

5/5 for pandemic travel daydreaming
I love this podcast! I'm late to the party, but I'm on a binge. Lots of helpful information presented in an unpretentious and engaging way.
I appreciate the variety of interviews, countdowns and destination-specific episodes. Hoping to put it to good use once the pandemic is over.

Great podcast!
Great that they did a show on best drinks and did a mix of coffee and alcoholic drinks. Entertaining!

Not for me
This podcast got me into the reward card travel game, which led to a couple fabulous years of traveling for free. I LOVE Travis's obsession with details and frugality. I've mostly stopped listening because I don't have anything in common with them- I like hiking and domestic U.S. travel, and they like hanging out on the beach and getting their passports stamped. Really, it seems like they've barely explored their own country. It's also hard to be inspired by someone that makes a good living off of blogging and podcasting, since that's a lifestyle most of us cannot attain. I do appreciate their beer recommendations and stories about traveling with kids.

Less business plugs, please
I started listening a few years ago. I still love the episodes that are actually about your travels, and I get it, covid, no one is traveling. BUT! Even before covid, the episodes were trending more toward your business. I know you have to advertise your brand, but I miss living vicariously through you guys!

Upbeat
I have been listening to Trav and Heather for well over a year. I work in the travel industry and appreciate their upbeat attitudes at a difficult time. I especially enjoy the destination diaries and the showdown throw downs. I mark specific restaurant recommendations on my google maps.

My Favorite Escape!
As a former Tour Manager for international group tours, 2020 has left me with a broken heart over epic trips lost and more than anything, an extreme case of wanderlust. I feel like Trav and Heather are some of my travel besties and I take their recommendations with me every time I go on a trip. THANK YOU for this source of joy during 2020, hoping our paths cross very soon 💗 Merry Christmas!

We love this podcast!
We religiously listen to EPOP and love it. We are avid travelers and really like listening to EPOP. We have two teen boys and they call this “mom’s podcast that we are ok listening to”. There aren’t too many podcasts that we all like but this is one of them. Thanks for doing what you are doing!

A friend introduced this podcast to me and I LOVE it. As an avid travel and explorer, I have found solace in many of these episode and I love the humor throughout too. I also live in the Philly burns so can relate to a lot of the local info. Keep em coming.. would love to hear an episode on how students can maximize their study abroad experience:)

Favorite Travel Podcast!
EPOP is always my go-to! Whether I’m going for a run, on a plane, driving, cleaning house... you get it. My favorites are the year-end reviews and throw-down-showdowns. Travis and Heather have such fun banter that’s so real, I feel like I’m sitting across the table from them, watching them in real life.
Thanks for all the laughs, useful tips, and extra episodes during the lockdown to help keep us all sane. Keep inspiring and showing us all how it’s done!

Great podcast for people of all ages
I just finished listening to the “mean review” podcast. Besides getting a few good laughs from it, I finally decided to write a review. I don’t fit the norm for this podcast. I am 66, married, with a 18 year old child. My husband and I loved our travel adventures pre-kid, with kid, and now starting back on our own. This podcast is charming. Travis and Heather are a delight and remind me of us when our kid was little. There is great travel advice with each show. Sure, some shows are more up my alley than others, but that’s to be expected. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Best Travel Podcast
I'm a bit embarrased as I thought I had reviewed this 6 or 7 years ago when I first started listening to this podcast but I guess I never did. I wish i could rate this higher than five stars. I've been listening for that long and I still look forward to each one. Always inspires some wanderlust.
