Hardly any travellers are aware that the idyllic coastal town of Swakopmund, on the outskirts of the city, is still home to mass graves from the 1904-1907/08 genocide of the Ovaherero and Nama people. One of the country's largest concentration camps was also located in this now quiet and tranquil town. Laidlaw Peringanda, the founder of the Genocide Museum in Swakopmund, offers city tours with this historical focus and invites you to personal lectures. The atrocities of the past should not be forgotten. To restore the dignity of the victims the artist, historian and activist dedicated his work to this important cause.
