The People’s Plaza Movement occupied Ida B. Wells Plaza 24 hours a day for 62 days, creating a multi-racial, multi-generational community organizing space in the process, with goals of 1) defunding the police, 2) demilitarizing the police, and 3) removing Confederate symbols across the state, including a bust of, KKK founder, Nathan Bedford Forest in the Capitol Building.
