After killing his grandparents, in cold blood at the age of 15, Edmund Kemper the 3rd was only sentenced to time in a mental health hospital until he was deemed well enough to be released.
In this case, that was only 5 years. The hospital strongly suggested that Ed, not be released into the custody of his mothers, due to some, very worrisome behavior and thoughts that they had observed in him when it came to his mother Clarnelle. But, of course that was exactly who he went to live with up on his release. And who knows, if it was this decision that led to Ed becoming one of the most prolific serial killers of all time, but it certainly did not help. This is part one of The Co-ed killer Edmund Kemper.
