A few weeks ago, I finished taking a course titled Mindfulness in the Workplace, taught by professor Erik Dane. In this class, we learned about the concept of mindfulness, and how it can foster performance in the workplace and improve  the quality of workers' lives. Throughout our class sessions, we were challenged to engage in different mindful strategies with the goal of enriching attention-related skills and applying the practice of mindfulness to everyday life.

Erik is an associate professor of organizational behavior at WashU In St. Louis. In addition to his teaching, Dr. Dane studies managerial cognition. Through conceptual and empirical research projects, he explores how managers focus their attention, solve problems, and make decisions. Topics central to his research in this area include creativity, epiphanies, expertise, intuition, mindfulness, and mind wandering.
