If you’ve been tuning into our podcast, or reading our newsletter, then you probably already know about the long lines food pantries have been facing as the pandemic wears on. Still today, hundreds of our neighbors continue to line up in search of groceries. It’s mainly thanks to volunteers that they return home with a bag of food. And while the job is fulfilling, it’s hard work.
In this episode we talk with two volunteers from food pantries across Queens to learn more about what a typical day looks like for them, what challenges they face, and what they need the most right now.
