The S&P 500 closed slightly down due to concerns over the banking sector and energy demand in China. Amazon's stock fell while Nvidia's rose, as the market becomes more accepting of the role of AI in the future. JP Morgan purchased First Republic Bank for $10.6 billion, while IBM replaced 7,500 employees with AI. Morgan Stanley is preparing to eliminate around 3,000 jobs, and Magnus Billing, CEO of Sweden's largest pension fund provider, stepped down after large losses. The American Airlines pilot union has authorized a strike vote for better pay and working conditions.
