El sonido jamaicano, caracterizado por el Rock Steady y el Ska, se fue trasformando hasta generar posteriormente el Reggae, pero su explosión definitiva ocurrió cuando, en la década de los 70, los rastafaris llegaron a Inglaterra y catapultaron su sonido hacia los blancos, conquistando un público inexplorado.
