Down to Watch is green and glowing this week while we check out Lanterns! Dan and Raul watch a newcomer and old hand playing similar roles with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre in the new Green Lantern based TV series that cohabits the universe also containing the recent Superman and Supergirl films. From showrunner Chris Mundy (True Detective producer) with help from television heavyweight producer David Lindelof, this show holds a lot of similar style to the dusty detective thriller (though less horror tinged content for sure). The show about superheroes with the power to create anything with their power rings has spent a lot of time in a small town dealing with cowboy billionaires running secret anti-alien manuevers around a local sherriff who doubles as his daughter-in-law and coverage for him (to an extent) when the Lanterns show up as space police investigating an incident. Great acting, excellent filmmaking and a tight, intruiging story have set the first three episodes apart as a new kind of comic book show, lets see if this sounds like it's one for you to dive into!
