First time listener. Practicing physician. Happy to see you giving great advice and helping docs grow in ways we weren’t taught in medical school. Looking forward to more interesting and entertaining information.
From One Creative to Another
Hey Darko Docs, I love this podcast. It’s really opened my eyes on so many real world aspects of life outside of your careers as physicians. I share this podcast with everyone I can and when I do, the response I receive is “bro I’m not trying to be a doctor though.” And I laugh and tell them “trust me”. You all touch on so many things that I’ve had questions about but didn’t know where to find the answer nor how to even ask the question. I’m studying to be a physician now as a 32 year old pre-med student at the University of Pittsburgh. It’s really been a stressful year and this podcast eased some of that stress and kept me grinding through biochemistry and Human physiology 🥴. I’ve graduated with degrees from 2013 and have been working full time since then. Started on this journey in 2017 and I’m finding myself in this. But there are absolutely times when I don’t feel I am able to keep up and not working hard enough and not smart enough. I turn on your podcast and I’m good. “Back at it again with the white vans!” (That part is for Renee). Your podcast also made me feel like I don’t have to give up my other interests and talents; in fact you have taught me to embrace them more while I’m doing this. So I’ve been playing my saxophone more, taken up photography (IG: evoke0ne), started doing some music production again. Creativity has always been my way out of my head and just being in the moment. I believe when we are striving to be something like a doctor or lawyers, we become too focused on what could happen if I do or don’t do something and fixate on the future. We can’t practice being a doctor now, like I can practice my saxophone now, and we tend to live outside the moment. Your podcast and creativity has shown me that. I hope I can be as great a mentor to others the way you’ve been for me. Thank you Dr. Nii for your awesomeness and knowledge every episode. It’s truly priceless. Dr. Renee is cool too but we know who runs the show 😎...✌🏾🙏🏾 Jamar ......Dr. Renee I didn’t mean it! I just was trying to get that 15 minute chat with that last statement. You are the life of the show. Slowly but surely, “docs outside the box with Dr. Renee Darko.” Wish you both the very best.
This show is a gem.....The real truth of practicing medicine and the hurdles involved and how to navigate it.
Great for young docs!!
very authentic. Enjoy it
Docs keeping in 💯
This is my first time listening to your podcast after hearing you speak on Passive MD summit. I’m looking forward to learning in the real business school of medicine! I’ve ordered your 3,2,1 podcast book ready to take a plunge in 2021. Thanks for being an inspiration and inspiring more docs to control their own narrative.
They da best! (DJ Khaled voice)
I absolutely love this podcast! During residency I always knew there had to be more to medicine than just being overworked and not feeling in control of my life. This made me feel alone in my thoughts. This podcast makes me feel not alone and encourages me even more that I am a doc outside of the box! And when Dr. Renée is on the show it is even more powerful. Dr. Nii you chose well AAAAAND she’s Haitian AAAAAND she’s from Brooklyn (just like myself!) Dr. Renee is BAD! OK! Honestly, these two amazing docs complement each other so well and I love that they keep it 100, no fluff! Keep on doing your thing, Dr. Nii. We see you and support you all the way, brother!

This is show is refreshing, like the mix of medicine finance and real life in the lives of doctors. Awesome show..
This is a great podcast. We need more
Not your average doctor podcast! 🔥🔥🔥
If you want a podcast that will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone as a Doc or medical student, while still being entertained, this is the podcast for you. I may be biased but I think this is the dopest podcast ever. As a second year Ghanaian-American medical resident, to say I’m inspired by Dr. Nii and Dr. Renee Darko is an understatement. They’re raw, authentic and are not afraid to be vulnerable on each show. They’ve inspired me to think outside-the-box of medicine. From discussing topics on current issues like the murder of George Floyd, to their battle with Covid 19 🥲 to Locums Tenens and financial independence through multi-family real estate, they’ve inspired me to not only be a better doc but a better human being. You’ve got a life long listener Docs!
The moment I decided to pursue medicine I found this podcast. This podcast is a one stop for everything one needs to be inspired, education, and motivated within medicine. The best doc podcast out right next to black men in white costs. Exceptional!
This show is great
I love podcasts
I live 40 to 50 min away and I can’t stay away from medicine. Luv this podcast
Thank you for using your platform to educate!
As an outsider looking in with my own opinions, I enjoy listening to your perspective on the medical field. Those of us who aren’t doctors know that it’s tedious work becoming a doctor. However, I think for many, prior to COVID, most thought that once you became a doctor, you’d reached the land of milk and honey. Thank you for providing perspective and keep on enlightening! I look forward to hearing your topics in 2021! Continued blessings! -Jen Scott
Love this podcast
I graduated med school 30 years ago and have gone the pretty much the traditional route but I love hearing about people doing creative things with their medical degrees. Love the energy of this podcast!
This podcast is golden! I’m a non traditional premed who on their 2nd gap year. I’ve been listening to Dr. Darko for almost 2 years. He has displayed to me that I can be a doctor that’s don’t have to just do clinical and see patients. I learned about locums and finances. I love his wife also well when comes onto the show! Dr. Nii I’ll love to have a 15 minute conversation with you and maybe be featured on the podcast one day😂😂
Inspirational and Informative
Have been a faithful follower since the beginning of the podcast and love where it’s going! As a fellow physician who has launched my own consulting company in the past 6 months, Docs Outside the Box has been a huge inspiration with great tips and fun to listen to!
End of year rewind covid
Mentioned how we are not discussing detrimental effects or isolation. My husband is a crime scene investigator in a minor city... suicides and overdoses are significantly higher,,, investigating 3-4 a day versus 3-4 a week pre covid I myself treat autoimmune diseases, flare during times of stress.. or m not exaggerating when I state that literally my entire Rheuamatology patient population is flaring Love your podcast and the variety of speakers and topics you cover, keep up the great work, your generation of docs is rocking it! I wish this podcast was around when I finished training
Episode about student loans sealed the deal
I’ve been tuned in for a a year plus, but utter laziness has prevented me from rating this podcast (I apologize!). After listening to episode 201, I was inspired to leave a review. I love the honesty of Dr. Nii and Dr. Renee. I’m only in my second year of medical school, and I’m already feeling the burden of owing 6 figures in student loans. Having the Darkos describe their journey provided a solace that no sort of debt counseling would ever bring about. Anyways, this show is consistent in the fact that it always delivers gems and enlightens listeners. I’ve shared the podcast with my classmates. Please keep up the great work! It is very appreciated. Be safe.
Amazing Podcast!!! Definitely a must!

Loved the topics on locums and your family life! It’s stuff you can’t find in a book! Happy I found this podcast
NBA free agency episode
Enjoyed the conversation! However, using the basketball analogy, what are insurance companies called in the basketball world? Are they agents, GM’s, etc? I feel insurance companies and federal govt insurance (medicare/medicaid) are the biggest devauler of physicians. I think hospitals are just the GM’s but the insurance companies are the owners in the medical world.

As a med student with a long long way to go and a whole lot of decisions to make, I feel like this podcast is the most epic version of FREE GAME ever. The back-end of medicine is not usually taught, and to have access to this sort of wisdom so early in the game will no doubt prove to be worth it’s weight in stars.
Highly Recommend Podcast!
Have thoroughly enjoyed DOTB podcast for a while now, Dr. Nii is informative and entertaining.
I highly recommend this podcast. There hasn’t been an episode I haven’t enjoyed and learned from. A must listen. You won’t regret it.

The breakfast club for doctors!!
I love this podcast!! The Darko’s gives you a bigger picture of how much more you can do and be as a physician. This podcast is great for nontraditional folks and for docs who love living unconventionally.
This podcast is where its At! Love!!
I love listening to this podcast!! Dr Nii is friendly, relatable, and boils down info in the easiest way. It is such a breath of fresh air for doctors in todays world! Keep doing you and having amazing guests and topics because this is really inspirational and normalizes the many ups and downs of being in medicine.
Legendary Healthcare Leaders!
Dr. Nii and his stellar guests shine the brightest of lights on what it means to follow your own path as a doctor and in life! Bold, insightful, and engaging are just a few of the words I’d use to describe the time you’ll spend with them. You’ll get tons of actionable advice and tangible tips, but you’ll also get heaps of inspiration from truly engaging individuals that have been where you are and want to see you succeed. Thanks for putting out such a superb show Dr. Nii - keep up the great work!

Great Podcast for Med students too!
I’m a 4th year med student and recently listened to the physician finance episode with Miss Bonnie MD. This is great info before residency that we don’t get in med school, and I learned about so many great resources that I can start listening to and reading during my 4th year down time. Thanks DOTB!
Dr. Darko does it again!
I have been listening to this podcast for almost a year now and I love everything that Dr. Darko stands for. Through his platform, I am being exposed to all of the different ways that physcians can impact the world! Currently I am a first year medical student and I have always thought outside the box however, people have always tried to restrict me to strictly the clinic side of medicine or to "stay in my lane". Dr. Darko has actually inspired me to start my podcast sooner than I had initially intended because let's be real...why not? Why wait? This most recent episode about food nutrition was awesome. Keep up the good work and keep on inspiring! #ghanastandup
I feel like I need a moment to sit and mentally unpack all the amazing concepts inside this podcast episode. Definitely one of my favorite ever. Not only relatable, but it actually felt like one of those pivotal influential moments as I was taking it in. And yet it still managed to be fun! Amazing!
concerned girl MD
As a physician I’m constantly looking for ways to reinvent myself and this podcast has given me LIFE! Many times we hold back on our desires because of fear but it’s inspiring to to find people who are doing what you want to do! Thanks Dr. Nii for highlighting these entrepreneurs who are killing it in their fields!
Your Caribbean Docit
Disappointed on the political bias.
Great use of my time
Listening to this podcast has been a great use of my time...Dr.Darko is skilled at interviewing others and bringing out the best answers in those he interviews. The acknowledgement of the physicians he interviews is kind and sincere...its nice way to share grace with others. Please keep the podcast coming.
The chemistry between the Darko’s is unreal! I heard the episode where they addressed paying off debt. Hearing their transparency but ultimately them showing us that they are human I really enjoyed that. Thanks for the encouragement and just being real. Dr.Nii Darko’s podcast makes any commute to work memorable. As a Physician myself it’s so great to hear the exceptional work of my colleagues living their lives outside the box by the creator of the podcast who is also multitalented and living his life outside the box. Job well done Dr.Darko. I truly applaud you.
Some life changing advice
Nii has a great, easy to listen to style. I’ve made some good connections already via his podcast and am living outside the box!! Five stars for sure.
Great interviews from doctors breaking the mold!
Thank you so much, Dr. Darko, for finding and then broadcasting the amazing, game-changing work of doctors working outside (and inside) the box. I already had my first bout of professional burnout less than a few years out of residency, but listening to your podcast has inspired me to get my head back in the game and perhaps, find my own unique contribution. We as physicians have so much to offer the world, but I definitely forgot that. Your work is so valuable, and truly, shines a light for those of us who are struggling or just questioning what more we can give.
Knowledge is power
Wealth of knowledge highly recommended.
Awesome podcast can I have more
More episodes please
Listening to these podcasts from the beginning; they are all great! Dr. Darko does a wonderful job interviewing his guests and encouraging docs to live outside the box. I'm hooked!
Love this show
What a fantastic resource!
Dr. Darko! I just listened to your excellent podcast with Diane Gardner on reducing your taxes. As a small business owner, I am always looking for ways to optimize my tax savings. Diane is very knowlegable and it is obvious she truly cares about helping physicians. Since I do career coaching for physicians, I am going to start recommending your podcast. You have a great style and are providing valuable information with fun and flare! Thank you.
First Ep Success
Congrats on your first ep! I was very impressed with the polished intro and well thought out format. Your interview style allows the guest to stretch out and say what they want, but the listener knows that you are guiding the ship. The sound quality when you speak is great, but you must find a way to clean up the sound of your guests. Overall, a great ep. I am looking forward to hearing more. Keep up the good work!
Doc of future
The future is now. Dr. Darko is showing what the successful and fulfilled 21st Century Doc is: multifaceted, human, forward thinking and living their 1 life to the fullest outside the box. By the way, traditional medicine.. psst: This is how you get autonomy back & catch up with the real world. Much Love Nii! Dr. N.D.
