What does it mean to serve others? Does it mean that we become  mentally bonded servants? Does it mean that we lose part of ourselves?  Is it demeaning?

Sometimes we connect a feeling of being less than  when we think about serving others. We feel we must make ourselves  vulnerable to do what it takes to help others. We feel we have no say if  we volunteer to be available to help someone. We feel that we will be  taken advantage of if we give ourselves to serving others.
