1 hour 38 minutes Posted Jun 21, 2023 at 9:00 am.
In this episode, Angie and Steffi celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Madonna’s “Ray of Light” album. As we do in all of our Diva Discography episodes, part 1 is an in-depth review and discussion of EVERY SINGLE TRACK of the album. We then end our conversation sharing our Top 3 favorite songs from the album, 1 song we’d cut, and the underrated gem.Make sure you tune in next week for part 2 when we talk about Madonna’s Ray of Light era.Album Info: Ray of Light is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Madonna, released in early 1998 by Maverick Records. A major stylistic and aesthetical departure from her previous work, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light is an electronica and techno-pop record which incorporates multiple genres, including ambient, trip hop, art pop, psychedelic music and Middle Eastern music, while also seeing Madonna singing with greater breadth and a fuller tone. Mystical themes are also strongly present in both the music and lyrics, as a result of Madonna embracing Kabbalah, her study of Hinduism and Buddhism, and her daily practice of Ashtanga yoga.DIVA DAILIES SOCIAL MEDIA:Twitter | Instagram | TikTok*Email us for show notes: [email protected]’S SOCIAL MEDIA:Twitter | Instagram | Tiktok | YouTube | LetterboxdANGIE’S SOCIAL MEDIA:Twitter | Instagram | YouTube | LetterboxdTIME STAMPS:- Housekeeping
