Hey, I'm Kyle. You might have seen us on Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook. Dirt bikes are a passion of mine. I focus mainly on the off road and enduro segments of our sport because that is the riding me and my friends focus on. Think of this as an extension of the more than 700 videos found on YouTube. Here we talk all things related to off road and enduro style dirt bike riding. With topics ranging from full dirt bike reviews, gear reviews, riding tips, and other general non-sense, we have the off road rider covered.
Ep. 83 - KX 250X vs YZ250X Would You Rather?
If you'd like to enter to win one of the three motorcycles I'm giving away, visit my website before June 30th 2021.  https://dirtbikechannel.com/Motors - Ultimate winner is the YamahaBoth motors pull really hard and are a ton of fun. YZ250FX has an advantage with the Yamaha Power tuner App - so cool to be able to change maps that way.  Better than the Modules you change on the KX. Yes, I know you can buy the Kawi Calibration kit, but how many people spend the few $700 for it?Suspension - TieBoth of the 250 versions of these bike use KYB forks. Both of them are valved a bit more for going fast, or riding some smaller tracks than for doing slower enduro riding.  Both bikes give me an incredible amount of confidence and feel.  Chassis - TieBoth bikes give me confidence with a super "planted" and settled feelI love the narrow feeling of the KX.  Feels super narrow when riding it. I like that Kawi lets you move the foot-pegs a bit.  I wish they moved back more, but it's a start and I wish all bike makers allowed this. Both kickstands sucked.  The Yami has that huge spring that caught on my boots.  The KX is sticking out like some sort of out rigger.  Kawi uses a "thin" clutch lever and brake lever.  You notice it right off the bat and I thought I'd hate it, but it didn't bother me on the trails. They both use Nissin brakes, and while they are sometimes a little more Grabby than a Brembo, I ultimately have too much issue.  The main thing is it's harder for me to feather the rear brake on the Kawi than some other bikes.   Kawasaki KX250X has hydro clutchTransmission - YamahaYamaha uses the WR 6 speed transmission.  Although it's not exactly what I want, it's better than MX gearing for off road ridingKawasaki uses 5 speed MX gearing.  Isn't too bad for single track riding, but shows it's short legs when riding faster, more open terrain.  Becomes an issue when connecting trails.  Needs another gear.Air Box - YamahaThis Kawasaki air-box is so dumb.  Needs 8mm and 10mm to remove air-box cover.  Then the filter is the hardest filter to change of any modern bike I've ever had.  Final Score is YZ250FX =4 while the KX250X =2Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/dirtbikechannel)

How To Get Better at Dirt Bikes - Push Yourself Incrementally, Baby Steps - Ep 74
Thanks to Sam Bennion for joining me in this discussion today! How do we mentally prepare to hit bigger and bigger obstacles and challenges so that we grow in our abilities?Incremental Growth - Baby stepssmall logs, small dropsStop for a moment and realize the bike can do thisHow do we draw the line to know when to stop or when we really are out of our ability?Peer pressure?Going back to an obstacle later and conquering it is really rewardingLeave the obstacle on a high note if possibleHow do we face the mental challenges of an obstacle we are afraid of or a trail we have heard about and we are afraid of trying? How do we deal with failure, when we try and fail? How do we deal with getting hurt when we ride?Does being too timid or cautious actually make it easier to get hurt or get hurt again?having your mind in the right placeHow do we find riders and riding groups that push us and is that a good thing to be in a group where you are being pushed?  On the flip side, are we in a group that does the same rides over and over and we are stagnant in our growth because of the group we ride in?Are we rushing through the ride for the Podium at the end?Are we looking for fun things to do along the way?Are we messing around and working on skills? We need to STOP telling ourselves that we can't do that and stop taking the easiest line!It means we are indeed willing to fall and fail, even in front of others!  It means we are willing to scratch up our bikes and brake parts, that is part of the price to be paid for higher confidence. What about the sheer satisfaction of overcoming a fear or obstacle that has troubled us?Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/dirtbikechannel)
