Our guest today is Dr. Noshene Ranjbar. Born raised in Tehran, Iran until immigrating to the US in adolescence, Dr. Ranjbardeveloped a passion for a holistic view of medicine and healing from early on in her life.Throughout her studies and life experiences, including her own illness as well as caring for hermom who suffered from several autoimmune illnesses and cancer, to fostering refugee childrenwith PTSD, to working with American Indian communities across the U.S., to working withasylum seekers, she developed a keen interest in approaches to healing trauma and advocatingfor holistic mental health in empowering, culturally appropriate ways. Harvard trained andboard certified in General Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, and Integrative Medicine,she is currently Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona. She is co-founder of the Integrative Psychiatry Program at the UA, while also serving as Faculty with TheCenter for Mind-Body Medicine and the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Herresearch focuses on training the next generation of psychiatrists to offer a holistic approach tomental health, while serving children and families most in need.
