Economic development and democracy is often intertwined and in the words of Seymour Martin Lipset, “the more well-to-do a nation, the greater the chances that it will sustain democracy”. Thus the discussion today will be emphasizing on the relationship between development and democracy and what are the respective positive and negative correlations between the two. To do so, Dr. Diah Kusumaningrum has chosen two theories, endogenous theory and exogenous theory. She will further explain the empirical and theoretical facets as well.
