The Three Visions began as music for Christopher Thomas’s dance work and became an 18-minute solo-violin piece in ten movements. In this Music Deep Dive, I unpack its three apparitions - a child, a mother and a child who will never be - alongside Bach, dance, virtuosity and my own imposter syndrome as a violinist. The story of an epic five-year labour of love written for the instrument I knew well enough to fear.
