With dreams of going to college, Glen Burnie, Maryland resident Donna Ferres spends her days working at a local box factory in order to save money. But when her boss pushes her to the brink, Donna decides it's time to move on. Thankfully, Donna rebounds quickly; she lands a new job working the overnight shift at a local convenience store. Working the graveyard shift alone has its upsides Donna is able to attend college during the day but it also has its downsides, too.
