Khao San Road has long been a key attraction to tourists trying Bangkok for the first time. It is a little like Pattaya’s Walking Street or Phuket’s Patpong, but without a big girly scene or ago-go bars.

It is loud, touristy and has wide appeal to back packers, families and couples alike. But, in my opinion, it is over rated.

I stumbled quite by accident into nearby Soi Ram Buttri and a delightful venue called Alley Cat Restaurant and was instantly hooked.
