Show notes
Brian and Judson are joined by Rich Burns, writer, creator and star of the Humanitas Prize-winning comedic digital series “The Disappointments.” The show’s second season is out now and follows three gay friends in their 60s who are single, broke and desperately trying to turn their disappointing lives around. Rich shares how the series came out of the realization that a number of his friends found themselves in their 50s with their dreams unfulfilled, talks about the disparate reactions to the show from different generations of gay viewers, and dispels certain myths about the differences between himself and Ray, the character he plays on the show. Rich also shares his thoughts on open relationships, dating younger, the presumption by most that he’s a Daddy, the success of his slutty Instagram account, how his sexual exploration derives from connection and trust, and so much more. Rich then helps Brian and Judson respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is finding himself so busy that he has to schedule hookups weeks, if not months, in advance and is concerned that it’s a problem he needs help solving.
