PLANT is a London-based singer-songwriter and producer from Portland, Oregon. Not too long ago, she released a lovely debut single, entitled, “Aftershock,” produced and co-written by Stefan Abingdon (Selena Gomez, Jess Glynne).
PLANT explained 🗣: “I wrote ‘Aftershock’ after a minor fight I had with my partner that I just couldn’t get over. It made me think, when we have these fights, where do our words go after they are voiced? Who’s responsible for their reverberations – the speaker or the listener? I don’t know if I found an answer. But writing about it gave my hurt feelings the voice they needed to be heard.”
‘Aftershock’ contains a problematic relationship-based narrative and ear-pleasing vocals that will resonate well with fans of Sylvan Esso and Lorde. The atmospheric tune possesses dark synth-laden instrumentation flavored with electro-pop, indie-electronic, and contemporary pop elements. Furthermore, “Aftershock” serves as a wonderful introduction to what listeners can expect to hear from PLANT in the near future as she continues to release new music. To date, “Aftershock” has been supported by BBC Introducing and featured on Spotify editorial playlists such as New Music Friday UK, Alt. Pop, and Chilled Pop Hits.
Since moving to London from Portland, PLANT has been writing alongside producers and writers such as Grammy-nominated Taneisha Jackson (Doja Cat, John Legend, Eve), Lewis Gardiner (Robin Schulz, Kiiara, Pharrell Williams, Megan Thee Stallion), and Steve Booker (Jessie J, Galantis, Stevie Nicks) to name a few.
