Okay, today was not an easy day and there is not much time left.

That's why we have to improvise a bit today.

But the topic itself is anything but unimportant.

It's about why so many companies don't do the few simple things necessary to improve their own results.

If you want to be someone who doesn't make the following mistakes, just take three to five minutes and keep listening to this presentation.

The first big mistake most companies make is not communicating with their existing customers.

For whatever reason, we all feel that it is a bad idea to contact satisfied customers who have already purchased.

I believe the reason for this is simply that these customers may be able to give us more work without us making any more money from them.

After all, every customer has a right to be properly supported by our company.

However, certain existing customers are indeed a good source to generate new sales, especially if we could really satisfy them.

In addition, there are always people among these existing customers who would rate our company positively.

From time to time we receive e-mails from them describing that we have helped them well.

And another thing we can do with these existing customers is to point out to them that it is possible to make official the already very good review sent to us by e-mail.

We do that all the time and thank them for the positive feedback.

Then we send these customers a link that allows them to make it official.

To do this, they have to submit their name, their email address and the official review.

Anyone who has read the book Influence by Robert Cialdini in the past knows that people tend to maintain and justify to themselves an evaluation once it has been made.

What does this mean in plain language?

Quite simply, once we have received positive feedback from our customer via email, we offer them the opportunity to publicize it officially on the relevant website and with their own name.

So what will these people do?

Reaffirm the statement already made about the good service and their own satisfaction?

Or will they suddenly give a completely different evaluation and run the risk that their own, previously made statement will be presented as incorrect?

In our experience, in the vast majority of cases, the official evaluation will be even better than the one they have already sent us by e-mail.

The third thing that most companies do wrong is to never contact again customers who have started a purchase process but never completed it.

It happens again and again that someone starts a purchase process and then shortly before payment cancels the transaction.

There are usually reasons for this.

For example, one of these reasons could be that the customer actually wants to buy the product, but is not sure if it is the right product for his own needs.

Or maybe he wants to inquire about some pricing information first.

Another classic situation is when our customers search the Internet for a coupon code because they think that the product might be available at a lower price in a special offer.

But what does it mean when someone leaves a half-full shopping cart online?

Quite simply, the customer is interested in the product, but needs one or two more pieces of information to be sure that the purchase is in line with his or her interests.

How easy would it be to identify such customers?

And how easy would it be to contact this customer briefly and ask him if there is a specific reason for the cancellation of the purchase and if you can help him?

If you have such conversations in an unobtrusive way, then in the vast majority of cases customers will do one of two things.

Either they explain to us why they don't want to buy the product, in which case we're smarter and can act on that and do better for other customers in the future.

Or we can clear up their questions and doubts and successfully complete the purchase process with them after all.

In both cases, the customer probably won't mind if we contact them.

Nevertheless, almost nobody does this!

Why don't you check in your own company whether and in what form customers who have already started a purchase process are contacted by your employees after the purchase process has been cancelled.

Do you think that this could work?
