In the last video we used a text to speech software to convert written text into spoken language.  However, sometimes you need it the other way around, for example when you want to create subtitles for a video.  There are several useful solutions for this and some of them are more work than others.  For example, there is a free program for Windows called Subtitle Edit for manually creating and editing subtitles, but it is quite time-consuming.  We're more partial to automated or semi-automated solutions. For our video from the last episode we used a software called Happy Scribe.  The nice thing about Happy Scribe is that you can have the videos automatically translated from speech to text right after uploading and you are also able to edit it directly online.  Happy Scribe offers a text editor, with which you can not only edit the text, but the video is also played and the corresponding text is highlighted.  This way you are able to find mistakes in no time and edit the text for the subtitles accordingly.  In the past we paid a lot of money for Happy Scribe, but lately there was always an offer where you could book a contingent for a fraction of the usual price.  We opted for a package with which we can text 200 minutes a month and for the vast majority of occasions, that's enough.  However, it can also happen that you need texts of videos that are a bit longer or that you may not have made yourself.  A classic case would be an instructional video which is only available in English but which you would like to display in German because the viewers might not understand the English language very well.  To provide such longer videos, for example of webinars, with appropriate subtitles in German, there is a little trick.  First you upload the video to another software called Rev AI.  There is no editor, but the possibility for a few cents to convert even long videos from spoken language into written text.  After that you can download the result and correct it in a word processor.  The whole thing works quite fast and is also quite cheap.  To translate the result into another language we usually use the free online version of Deepl.com.  For longer videos, it makes sense to rent the professional version for a few euros a month, because with it, for example, longer texts and even complete documents can be translated.  In addition, you can choose whether you want to use a formal or an informal speech.  The third and easiest as well as free option to get subtitles for video content is YouTube.  If you have your own YouTube channel, just upload the video and also you don't have to publish it at all.  There is an option to have non-published or private videos with subtitles automatically.  To do this, simply click on the menu item for subtitles in YouTube after uploading, select the appropriate video and if this is supported for the target language you want, you can select the entry translate automatically here.  This actually works very well and within a few seconds.  You can also download the subtitle files created here for other purposes and delete the unpublished video if needed. We also use all three options presented in this video in our daily business.  Depending on the purpose for which and the application used to create the corresponding audio or video files, one or the other version may make a bit more sense for you.  Another key advantage of subtitles is the ability to do this for a variety of languages.  This allows you to make the content you create available to your target audience internationally.  Okay, that's it for today.  If you have any questions or suggestions about the content in this video, feel free to email us.  We always reply ourselves and usually within 24 hours.  Thank you for your attention and see you in the next video!
