Ever wondered what goes on beyond our solar system? In 1995, Didier Queloz and his colleague Michel Mayor co-discovered the first exoplanet humans have ever laid eyes on – 51 Pegasi b. This discovery undoubtedly led to major breakthroughs in the Astrophysics domain as a whole and even won Didier the Physics Nobel Prize in 2019! Didier started his journey studying Physics and Mathematics at the University of Geneva and eventually went on to pursue his PhD in Astronomy. Additionally, Didier is a Professor of Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory and Geneva University and is thought to have been at the origin of the exoplanet revolution in astrophysics.
