A subscriber recently shared a story his father told him many times throughout his life. In the early 1950s, his family moved to a remote coal mining area of West Virginia after his grandfather was offered a management position with a mining company.
With no houses available, the family temporarily stayed in an old cabin deep in the woods. Almost immediately strange things began happening. Their young daughter started waking in the night crying and pointing toward the door. A terrible smell would fill the room. Then one night the boy woke to see a towering figure standing over his baby sister’s crib. At first he thought it might be Santa Claus… but what he saw was something else entirely.
As winter closed in and a massive snowstorm buried the mountains, the creature kept returning to the cabin. And one night it tried to force its way inside. What followed forced the family to abandon the cabin and flee West Virginia forever.
Was it a wild man of the woods… or something even stranger?
