The Way Out - A Table in the Desert - Pastor Felipe Assis
47 minutes Posted Oct 14, 2025 at 1:55 pm.
-5, 27-35Episode 9 October 12Big Idea: God doesn’t just get you out of slavery; he gets slavery out of you-through a process in the wilderness, provision that must be gathered, and a Father’s patient training. Opening PictureA pop‑up kitchen in a border town. Even before the power grid returns, a table appears and people are fed. God doesn’t only get you out of Egypt; He sets a table while you’re still in the wasteland. 1) GOD’S PEDAGOGY - Wilderness as a School (vv.2–3; Deut 8:2)Thesis: Freedom came fast; formation comes slow. You can get people out of Egypt in a day, but it takes years to get Egypt out of people.Illustrations: Butterfly struggle; detox nostalgia (“pots of meat”).Pastoral edge: Don’t despise the desert; this is where God grows weight/glory in you (2 Cor 4:17).Response: Expect God to surface what still enslaves you; name the “Egypts” you’re tempted to idealize. 2) GOD’S PROVISION - Bread That Must Be Gathered (vv.4–5, 31; Deut 8:3)Thesis: God provides; you still have to gather.A. Ingest Truth (Deut 8:3; Matt 4:4): Chew Scripture-like tea that steeps, not a quick dip.B. Develop Dependence (Matt 6:11): Daily manna - monthly miracle. “Daily bread, daily charge.” Tomorrow’s bread isn’t promised today.C. Practice Contentment & Generosity (Ex 16:16–18): Gathered individually, distributed communally (cafecito colada image).Diagnostics: What am I feeding my soul? If I’m in the Word, why isn’t it showing up as contentment and generosity? 3) GOD’S PATIENCE — Tests from a Father, Not a Prosecutor (vv.27–35; Deut 1:31; 8:5)Thesis: Israel fails; God keeps feeding—forty years. A father forms; he doesn’t disqualify.Illustration: Judge with a red pen vs. parent in the front row with flowers.Gospel: Jesus passes the wilderness test and loses sonship on the cross (“My God…”) so we, failing, become sons and daughters (John 1:12).Response: When you fall, reject “If I live right, life must go right.” Run to the Father who says, “Let’s try again tomorrow.” Gospel ArcPedagogy: God leads you where he can free you within.Provision: Christ is the true manna (John 6) and the Word you must ingest.Patience: Because of Jesus, the wilderness is formation, not condemnation. Practices for the WeekOne Jar of Manna: Write one Scripture daily; read it at meals (vv.32–34).Sabbath Stop: Choose a window to not gather—no email, no hustle—and say aloud, “God’s enough.”Share the Portion: Meet a need—give, invite, or serve someone this week. Memory Verse: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matt 4:4; cf. Deut 8:3)Follow us:https://www.instagram.com/crossbridgepinecrest/https://www.facebook.com/crossbridgepinecrest/To support this ministry and help us continue to reach people all around the world click here: https://crossbridgepinecrest.org/give
