In this episode of the CMP, some “mixed bag” talk because sometimes that’s what you have… a mixed bag of good and bad, lucky and unlucky, grateful and not. Or, maybe you have a mixed bag of creative tools, pens, pencils, erasers, and markers. Or, maybe you have lots and lots of bags, a mix of bags, to hold all your tools. It all works!
Random talk in this show and a non-book review because the book I thought I might talk about felt a tad stressful when I started digging into it on my phone. Stressful or high-stress creativity just isn’t what the CMP is all about. It’s okay if you like to do quick sketches, thumbnails, contours, or even blind contours. But it is also okay to take your time on a drawing! There is a lot of pressure out there about what “counts” as being creative. It’s great to try exercises and activities if you are feeling stuck or trying to find your footing in your creative life, but be careful about anything that tries to convince you, however, subtly, that what you love to do creatively isn’t creative enough.
